passing the torch?

Hi everyone!

I had a lot of fun with aph_rarexchange last spring, and I know I talked about future rounds a bit in the closing post. I think a future round of this challenge would be pretty awesome, but I don't think I'm the best person to run it, as my offline obligations show no sign of letting up anytime soon.

Rather than let this challenge completely die on the vine, I'll ask this of you guys: would anyone be interested in taking over maintainership of aph_rarexchange, either solo or as part of a team? If so, please respond to this post or PM me -- I'll see who's interested, and once I have a better sense of that, I'll see how I can go about transferring modship. I'm more than happy to share some of the tips I used to mod and promote this community last time I ran it, but I don't know if I can commit to much more support than that.

Thanks in advance. ♥

This post has been, er, long enough coming, but this round of aph_rarexchange is officially OVER! Everyone who submitted a fill has received one, and with that, I hang up my mod!hat.

And apologies for the lateness in closing things -- I think May hit a lot of us harder than we expected it to.

Stop by and say thanks to the people who've given you something which I also need to do, whoops; if you're not sure where your fills are, look for the tag marked "recipient: [your name]." (To the four of you who I had to find emergency pinch-hits for: I'll be PMing you within the next 24 hours with links to the fills you've received, and I again apologize for the delay.)

I hope you guys had fun! ♥

[Fic] Crime and Punishment

May. 31st, 2010 | 09:40 pm
posted by: gileonnen in aph_rarexchange

Title: Crime and Punishment
Author: gileonnen
Prompt: [up to R] AU where Russia and England are members of the KGB and MI6 respectively, and their paths somehow cross. Can have humour, badassery, violence...
Pairings/Characters: Russia, England, America, Belarus, France; Hungary and Austria cameo appearances. Very slight England/Russia.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13; violence, cursing, and character assassination on at least one of the characters mentioned above.
Word Count: 6,400
Summary: MI6 agent Arthur Kirkland is tasked to discover whether Russia is leaking nuclear material to the former Soviet Socialist Republics--but as he investigates the illegal arms-trading community in St. Petersburg, he finds far more than he had bargained for. Spy AU; human AU.
Disclaimer: Axis Powers Hetalia is the intellectual property of Himaruya Hidekaz.
Author's note: Due to the nature of espionage, a few characters will be cropping up who go by multiple names. Arthur Kirkland goes by Edward "Ned" Teach, although he once ironically identifies himself as Sherlock Holmes; Ivan Braginski calls himself Nikolai Alexeivich Raskolnikov. I have also taken some liberties with the mineral resources of Tajikistan. Many thanks to mithrigil for incredibly useful beta help.

[Fics] Look out look at look at me

May. 23rd, 2010 | 10:01 pm
music: Phoenix - Rome
posted by: subakai in aph_rarexchange

Title: Look out look at look at me
Author/Artist: subakai
Prompt: AU where America accidentally gets himself involved with the
mafia when his father, who has borrowed a nice sum from them,
cannot pay them back and so gives him his son, America, to work off
his debts. There, America meets S.Italy whom America finds himself
fancying though S.Italy seems less than tolerant of his stupidity and
potato-eating habits.
Pairings: Alfred/Lovino
Rating/Warnings: Kinda barely pg-13 (and I almost went over... luckily I saved this prompt...) Mentions of violence, sex, drugs, Mafia stuff. Francis...
Summary: Lovino and Alfred are sent on a job to rough up some competition. They get distracted.

[Fic Fill] Order And Willing

Title: Order And Willing
Author: pyrrhiccomedy
Around the time Prussia is kicking America's ass into shape.
It's be interesting to see the two of them actually fight one another,
see Prussia taunt America, abuse him mentally and all that. As well as
see America begrudgingly accept the fact that Prussia knows a thing or
two about what he is doing even if he seems off his rocker. [maybe
even have America start to develop some sort of weird crush on Prussia
but be in denial about it, of course]

Pairing: Prussia/America (more or less).
Rating/Warnings: R for violence.
Summary: You call this a fucking army?

Follow the link, maggot.

brief status update!

posted by: puella_nerdii in aph_rarexchange

I've heard back from some (though not all) of the people who haven't yet submitted their fills, and I've sent out emergency pinch-hit requests to cover the people who need covering. Ideally the emergency pinch-hits will be done within a week, but I'm willing to give pinch-hitters more time if they need it.

(If you'd like to add yourself to the pinch-hitting list, do so here.)

If you submitted a fill for aph_rarexchange, though, you will receive a fill, guaranteed. Again, I apologize so much for the delay.

Author/Artist: vulchu
Prompt: Poland has finally managed to get Prussia to watch Project
Runway with him. Yes, THAT Project Runway, with Tim Gunn. Anyway,
Prussia gets into it eventually. A little too into it because after
his fourth Heineken he starts mocking the contestants and claims --
rather stupidly -- that he could make clothes twice as awesome as the
ones on the show, in half the time. Well, Poland takes him up on it,
and Prussia, sober the next day, figures out that it's not as easy as
he thought it was last night. Especially if Poland is his model,
standing on a stool with cloth scantily draped and pinned over his
I took a few liberties with this request, I hope the requester doesn't mind!
Pairings: Poland/Prussia

end of back-up week!

posted by: puella_nerdii in aph_rarexchange

Well, we've had a few close calls, but I'm pleased to report that almost everyone got their stuff in -- or is in the process of getting it in now.

There are, however, some of you who haven't -- and this is where it becomes a little urgent, because there are still a few people who did participate in the challenge but haven't yet received fills. I apologize immensely to those people; a few of you do have fic or art in the works and will be receiving it soon, but a few fillers haven't contacted me yet about the status of their fills, so I'm hesitant to issue any more guarantees.

If you haven't yet submitted a fill, or if you have a few outstanding requests that you told me you'd fill but haven't yet, email me within the next 24 hours and let me know where you stand. Are you almost finished, but just need a little bit more time to tweak? Is it likely that you'll be able to complete everything you committed to, or is the fic/art just not happening? If you honestly don't think you'll be able to finish within the week, please let me know that. Once I have a better sense of what pieces are actually coming in and what pieces aren't, I'll send out the call for pinch-hitters. (Here's the group, if you'd like to add yourself to the list I've already assembled.)

Thanks, guys -- you've been awesome thus far, now just bear with me a little longer!

Title: Who Doesn't Like Waffles?
Author: fandomislove
Prompt: AU-college verse. Belgium gets up early to cook Spain waffles & they end up conversing too much over breakfast causing them to be late to their first class. Spain x Belgium also petition to have a bull-riding club - wherein America; a teacher at the college offers to sponsor their club if they can find 3 more members.
Pairings: Spain/Belgium
Rating/Warnings: PG-13. Nothing graphic. Romano. Also, my writing style.
Summary: College universe. Spain and Belgium bond over waffles. Antonio could really get used to this. Also, a club is formed, not just any club, a bull riding club. Who should join? Belgium is called "Belle" here. I don't know why.

Title: Define 'Morality'
Author: meltedpeep
Prompt: "Set during the 1920s/early 1930s -- a rum run
gone HORRIBLY WRONG. (The more Jazz Age shenanigans you can throw in,
the better -- slapstick is always fun, and kind-of-period-sounding
snarky banter is lovely, too.) Max rating: whatever you'd like it to
Pairings: America/Romano
Rating/Warnings: R, mostly for language. Contains some implied violence and makeouts.
Summary: In which Romano has stupid luck, America plays a piano and issues of crime and corruption are not successfully addressed. Sorry for being so late, and less coherent than usual.

Where it really started to go sour was when Romano got hit by the car.
